Recently the Indian Roads have been the biggest rival for the citizens, and people still waiting for emancipation from this problem. In the year 2022 Union budget came out, the government appointed a decent amount in the roads sector and a goal which was being set to reconstruct roads on a per-day basis was 22km. The monsoon season is the perfect test of how the roads are being made, with many potholes being reported on the Indian roads.
The famous businessman Cyrus Mistry dies in a car accident recently. Death was earlier an enigma, but later on, it came out Cyrus was not wearing a belt and their speed was 130+, in the many debates came out and one shocking instance was discussed that Cyrus’s high-tech car and tires were not meant for Indian roads, and it was reported that “Faulty bridge design led to Cyrus car crash”. It gave thought that the “is the problem with roads poor design or the reason was not wearing a belt”? Then after Nitin Gadkari passed a statement and announced a new rule that a “seat belt is mandatory if a certain passenger is sitting at back seat”.
In the Year 2020, a shocking report came out from the Ministry of road transport & Highways, notifying the accidents that took place were recorded, 3,66,138 road accidents out of which caused loss of 1,31,714 person lives and injured 3,48,279 persons. The report was Shocking because it was a pandemic year. Here the Question arises, how come these many incidents took place? Although the report of 2019 says 1,54,732 deaths took place, people were expecting the bar of deaths will decrease because it’s evident it was lockdown but things didn’t happen on our part. The more affected age bar was 18-45 years in the 2020 report. On an average basis, a maximum of 5L cases of road accidents and a minimum of 2.5L cases of Death on road accidents happen every year.
A former member of the Maharashtra legislative council and a prominent political leader Vinayak Mete dies in a car crash on the Mumbai Pune expressway last Sunday, driving a ford Endeavour and got crashed by a truck. Global New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) has repeatedly highlighted that some of India’s top-selling car models have failed the standard frontal impact crash, test and these cars have to get checked in all the boxes, then only the car is meant for roads. Every car company is moving towards electric compact vehicles, where one click does all the job, but remember it doesn’t ensure the safety of the person in the vehicle, this test all checks the durability that a car can hold during an accident and after an accident, most of the cars failed recently many companies have set priority to safeguard the safety of the person in a vehicle.
It’s not only one defect that leads to the accident, many factors affect the basic mentality on roads.
As Indians, we have a habit of learning after a big incident, which means we don’t take precautionary measures that help us and could save many lives. A complete lack of consideration and a big sign of minimum governance!
Nowadays cases of poor infrastructure have also been reported in India, sometimes roads have not a good quality in them, and the material used in roads is not worth it, potholes are seen during the rainy season. UP, Bihar, Delhi, and many states in the south like Bengaluru have been reported for accidents only from potholes.
A victim was accused! A 44 years old man called J. supreet got killed on 18th August in a road accident where he was riding a motorbike on a national highway, where the speed of his bike was as much as required, but a hump on a road that leads towards the pothole, where he got imbalanced and that very incident or moment took his life shockingly, in the end, he was booked and was foist for a charge in rash driving and over speed and the authority makes themselves free from the case.
A conveyor belt to death or a highway to death! On 17th August, a woman in Mumbai was driving her scooter on a ring road when the tire of her scooty stops her leading way to earn for her family, the accident was serious, when she falls her head got banged on the road, luckily her helmet saved her.
Now, People’s question arises, what’s, the point of paying so much taxes to the government as they are not doing such fruit full stratagem to prevail over this issue?
Another incident of potholes, seen on the road which sunk in, outside where the Vidhan sabha of all places, but the BBMP officials have put plants around the hole, to aware that our Honorable and great political leaders shouldn’t fall into, and no action taken place under 24hrs.
Many funny memes on Twitter were made to generate a feeling of concern, where a man suites up as an astronaut walking on roads and stipulates that he is walking on the moon, and then only when the camera angle shifted, it was an Indian road where he was walking.
It doesn’t mean that we should replicate our decision under the influence of others, and incline ourselves to others but also to make aware all the political organizations to work fittingly for the welfare of the society as everyone in this world is fallible, and given chances to work dutifully in the end.
The Main thing after an accident is emergency care, which India lacks too much, which also increases the rate of fatality. The food delivery is done in 15min, and the grocery products deliver their products in 5min. But does the emergency sector have the factor of timeliness in them? Because in the case of Vinayak Mete the emergency came 1hr late to the incident.
The government taking care of all the incidents that should not happen and with all the security measures the traffic police officers have taken the charge to inspire people to be aware of and be protective towards themselves. On the roads by introducing new laws and regulations which are beneficial to the people only. The government has set a Sustainable Development Growth (SDG) target of 3.6| Road Traffic injuries: By 2030, half the number of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents. Although India Already has failed to accomplish the target of 2022 but with hope government is hoping for a positive next year.
